It’s nice to meet you

My name is Kate Robison and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience working with kids, teens and adults. Evidence-based practices are at the core of what I do, having received robust training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RODBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Additionally, I am Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider (CMHIMP), for those seeking an integrative approach.

Prior to working in private practice, I provided mental health services within Chicago Public School systems for 7 years ranging from individual and group therapy for students, to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) development and trainings for teachers and administrators. Working within schools has had a profound impact on the way I approach my work, understanding that it truly does take a village, and I prioritize collaboration across teams with schools, psychiatrists, pediatricians, dietitians, and whoever the meaningful support systems in the client’s life may be.

A strong therapeutic alliance is the most healing aspect and driving force of change within therapy. I employ an anti-oppressive, non-judgmental and person-centered lens, understanding that the affirmation of your entire identity is critical to helping live a more authentic, values-aligned and meaningful life. I am committed to understanding the different systems that my clients exist within, and their impact on each client’s unique experience and growth in order to provide highly individualized care that accounts for the client’s full humanity. I also believe that play and laughter are some of the best medicine and strive to create an environment where people can experience both vulnerability and levity.

I hold licensure to provide services to client’s residing in IL, OH, MN, MI and FL.
